Appearance
The Adventurers Guild maintains a network of regional facilities throughout Cormyr, with its central headquarters situated in the capital of Suzail. Its Waymoot branch, which serves the King’s Forest and western Cormyr, is housed in a large, rustic black oak wooden building near the centre of town.
Inside, the building features a long, dark wood reception desk, a noisy canteen furnished with wooden tables and padded seating booths, and a large stone fireplace. A quiet library and vestiary are situated off to the side, while a rear loading dock accommodates heavy deliveries and contract spoils. Behind the reception counter, rows of decommissioned bronze, silver, gold, and platinum adventurer badges are pinned to the wall in remembrance of guild members who lost their lives fulfilling contracts.
Adjacent to the main building is an outdoor camping ground used when the guild’s indoor bunkhouses reach capacity. The facility is designed to accommodate adventurers, mercenaries, and travelling members who require somewhere to rest, resupply, and prepare for their next assignment.
Events Contributed by the Party
-
Licensing and Registration: Following an admonishment from Warden Garen Marston for performing unlicensed heroics near Espar, the companions registered with the Waymoot branch under his recommendation. They received official Bronze Tier badges, alongside 50 gp and a healing potion each as retroactive payment for saving Sicily.
-
Royal Honey Harvest: The party executed a smoke-and-torch strategy to harvest royal honey and capture a live larva queen from a location north of Waymoot. They delivered the heavy barrel to the guild’s loading dock, receiving a payment of 240 gp, alongside a 500 gp bonus.
-
Ranch Equipment and Stallion Recovery: The companions investigated the theft of warhorse stallions and equipment from Grolicer’s ranch. Their reward consisted of 200 gp and a health potion.
-

Despite its secretive nature, the mission was officially sanctioned through the guild and tasked the companions with investigating three marked settlements within the King’s Forest.

Landmarks or Known Locations
The Adventurers Guild maintains several important facilities throughout Cormyr, supporting its administrative, commercial, and operational responsibilities.
Suzail Headquarters
The central headquarters of the Adventurers Guild, located in Cormyr’s capital city of Suzail. This is where overall guild policy is established, senior administration is conducted, and higher-tier promotions are processed.
Waymoot Branch
The primary regional guild facility serving the King’s Forest and western Cormyr. Located within the motte-and-bailey town of Waymoot, the branch provides adventurers with lodging, supplies, contract registration, administrative services, and a base of operations for regional assignments.
Guild Library and Vestiary
A specialised reference room located off the main hall of the Waymoot branch. It contains bestiaries, regional maps, contract records, and writing implements, allowing adventurers to research potential targets, threats, and assignments before departing.
Guild Loading Dock
A designated delivery area situated at the rear of the Waymoot branch. It accommodates the unloading and storage of heavy contract spoils, barrels, livestock, and oversized goods brought back by adventurers.
Guild Camping Grounds
An outdoor camping area adjacent to the main guild building. It provides additional accommodation for members when the indoor bunkhouses are filled to capacity, allowing travelling adventurers to pitch their own tents.
Origins
The Adventurers Guild was established in Cormyr as a legally mandated framework for regulating adventuring activities throughout the kingdom. Its creation was intended to prevent unsanctioned mercenary violence, discourage vigilantism, and maintain public safety by ensuring that individuals undertaking dangerous work operated within the kingdom’s established laws.
Licensing and Ranking System
All adventurers operating within Cormyr are required to possess an official guild licence. New recruits undergo aptitude evaluations designed to assess their martial, magical, or stealth capabilities. Regardless of previous experience or reputation, newly registered adventurers begin at Bronze Tier.
The guild maintains a strict four-tier progression system:
-
Bronze: Entry-level adventurers and newly registered members.
-
Silver: Experienced adventurers who have demonstrated their capabilities through completed contracts.
-
Gold: Higher-ranking adventurers entrusted with more significant threats and responsibilities.
-
Platinum: The highest recognised adventuring rank within the guild.
Promotions are awarded through demonstrated competence and successful completion of increasingly challenging assignments.
Kingdom Legal Boundaries
The guild operates under Cormyr’s legal authority, meaning adventurers cannot freely undertake violent actions simply because they believe their intentions are justified. Members are permitted to intervene in immediate emergencies and life-or-death situations, but proactive vigilantism, unsanctioned raids, and other potentially violent operations require an active guild contract or explicit authorisation from a Purple Dragon Knight.
These restrictions ensure that adventurers remain accountable to the kingdom rather than operating as independent mercenary forces.
Draconic Artefact Policy
Cormyr maintains an especially strict zero-tolerance policy regarding draconic artefacts, owing to the kingdom’s dark history with dragons. Any discovered draconic remains or objects, including scales, teeth, eyes, hearts, and chromatic dragon artefacts, must be surrendered immediately to the guild.
The guild subsequently transfers these materials to the Purple Dragon Knights for destruction. Concealing, retaining, or otherwise withholding draconic artefacts is considered a serious criminal offence. Penalties can include the revocation of an adventuring licence, imprisonment, or execution.
Decommissioned Badges and Remembrance
The guild maintains a tradition of honouring adventurers who perish while fulfilling their contracts. When a member dies in the line of duty, their guild token is formally decommissioned and displayed on the wall behind the reception desk.
The bronze, silver, gold, and platinum badges serve as a permanent memorial to fallen members, ensuring that their sacrifices are remembered by the adventurers who continue to serve the kingdom.
