In Waymoot, the party sans one, Merrit Thistlewick researched Farmer Grolicer’s stolen warhorses and farm tools at the Adventurers Guild and library. Deducing that missing tools like shovels and hammers indicated a more humanoid of thief, rather then an opportunistic Beast also learning of historical lore on militant hobgoblin regiments that once attacked northern Cormyr.

At Grolicer’s ranch the next morning, inspecting the broken paddock fence and determining a horse had kicked it open from the inside out. Myravyn then tracked the trail into the King’s Forest, discovering snapped branches, horse hoofprints, and sandal-wrapped goblin footprints leading northwest.

Reaching a fortified cave complex and handily dealing with it’s inattentive guard, the companions launched a further assault. Vael’ric Nhalor engaging through an opening as goblins hid in bedrolls ready to ambush, while the rest of the party attacked down a set of stairs cut into rock, the battle on one side like shooting fish in a barrel and on the other, vicious as goblins were slain and a crude repeat of fate had a Hobgoblin leader bring Myravyn low in a single shot once again, though revived by Cinovas’ divine magics and avenged as Merrit Thistlewick felled the Hobgoblin, the battle was ended by Rose as she slew the remaining goblin as it attempted to flee, as the party turns it’s attention to the contents of the cave and the Horses stored within.
