Appearance

Cinovas is a pale elf with tousled black hair, pointed ears, and striking violet eyes. He wears refitted half-plate armour beneath layered black and deep purple robes. His armour features an emblem of the Raven Queen carved into the breastplate, which Sheamus the Armourer treated with a bluing solution to blacken the metal and suit his dark aesthetic. He carries a shield emblazoned with a raven holy symbol and a smoky censer used for religious rites. During formal events, such as Lady True Silver’s evening gala, he dresses in fine Cormyrian attire provided by the garrison stores.

Life Details

Cinovas hails from the Shadowfell, where he was trained as a cleric and “fate weaver” dedicated to the Matron of Ravens. Upon completing his training, his mentor presented him with a magical winged raven figurine capable of relaying messages across great distances before sending him into the Material Plane.

After arriving in Cormyr, Cinovas joined a diverse group of adventurers traveling along the road from the High Horns to Espar and Waymoot. Acting as the spiritual heart of the group, he views actions, decisions, and encounters not as random coincidences but as milestones along the interconnected threads of celestial fate.

Interactions with the Party

  • Debating Fate vs. Luck: On the road to Espar, Cinovas engaged in a philosophical debate with an acolyte of Tymora and Merrit Thistlewick about whether life is governed by predetermined fate or individual luck.

  • Rescuing Cicely and Goblin Battles: Cinovas assisted the party in rescuing young Cicely from goblins, shielding his allies with divine magic. He later participated in raids against a goblin cave hideout and a wolf pack, using Divine Spark to restore fallen allies such as rose and Merrit Thistlewick.

  • Adventurers Guild and Equipment Upgrades: Cinovas earned his bronze and silver guild badges at the Waymoot Adventurers Guild branch. He paid Sheamus the Armourer 250 gold to refit his blackened half-plate armour, borrowing 50 gold from Vael’ric Nhalor and promptly repaying the loan.

  • Lady True Silver’s Gala: Cinovas attended the high-society gala at The Moon and Stars in formal Cormyrian dress. He introduced himself politely to noble guests as “Cinovas the fate weaver.”

  • Warden Garen’s Secret Contract: Cinovas participated in Warden Garen Marston’s off-the-books briefing at The Old Man inn, agreeing to a scouting contract worth 1,000 gold upfront to investigate marked forest settlements.

  • Carving Divinatory Tokens: Cinovas purchased animal bones from a Waymoot trapper to carve and etch with symbols and blessings of the Raven Queen, creating specialized divinatory tokens for future spellcasting.

  • Messaging via Figurine: Cinovas used his animated winged figurine in Espar to transmit a spoken message to the cleric of Tymora in Waymoot.

  • Cosmic Dread at Mother Malkin’s Homestead: When guided to Mother Malkin’s hidden forest cottage, Cinovas experienced severe nausea and doubled over in vomiting upon crossing the threshold. He realized that her unholy domain existed where celestial fate held no sway, concluding that “fate ends here.” At camp, he supported Vael’ric Nhalor and Merrit Thistlewick’s assessment that Mother Malkin was a dangerous hag.

Powers and Abilities

  • Divine Magic (Raven Queen): Cinovas casts cleric spells dedicated to the Raven Queen, including Bless, which drapes shadowy raven wings over his allies; Healing Word; Sacred Flame; and Toll the Dead.

  • Divine Spark / Channel Divinity: Cinovas channels divine energy to provide immediate restorative healing to severely wounded companions.

  • Fate Manipulation (Plucking at the Threads): Cinovas manipulates the threads of fate during battle to alter attack trajectories or grant nearby allies advantage on attack rolls and saving throws.

  • Blinking Teleportation (Blessing of the Raven Queen): Cinovas teleports short distances of up to 30 feet across the battlefield through divine grace.

  • Magical Winged Figurine: Cinovas commands a magical raven figurine gifted by his mentor. It can animate, fly up to 50 miles over 24 hours, and deliver spoken messages of up to 25 words.

  • Divinatory Token Crafting: Cinovas is proficient in carving and etching animal bones with sacred runes to produce divinatory tokens.

  • Multilingual: Cinovas is fluent in Common, Elvish, and Celestial.
